Summary: The war rages on between Gemma and Hallie in the second installment of the Broken Hearts and Revenge series.
After the humiliating events on the 4th of July, Gemma's trying to handle the fact that Hallie knew who she was all along, and she was the one who stole Teddy from her. Gemma vows revenge, but things get more complicated than she planned. Ford, Gemma’s long-time crush, has arrived in the Hamptons cuter than ever. Josh is refusing to speak to her after she lied to him, and Teddy is playing champion to his beloved Marsh Warbler (in Gemma's backyard, no less).
Gemma and Hallie find themselves locked in an escalating revenge cycle. Just when Gemma thinks she has the upper hand, the biggest bombshell of all is dropped. And it’s one that threatens to change her life forever. This exciting sequel to Broken Hearts, Fences, and Other Things To Mend will leave you begging for the third installment.
My Thoughts: I remember reading the first one in this series, and I loved it! Loved loved it! I read it on a car trip and I laughed out loud so many times.
In this second novel, I felt the same way but at times it just felt like it dragged on.
We are back with Gemma and her mistakes. As the first book ended, Gemma was left with a lot of stuff going on and a lot her her mistakes being revealed.
In this one, Gemma wants to make amends with Hallie but Hallie won’t let that happen! Josh is also in the picture but he’s mad at Gemma and he doesn't understand even what happened.
I really like that Gemma gets a job in an ice cream shop. I love the moments spent working in that ice cream shop. Made me hungry for ice cream a lot!
I also love Ford and Josh in this one! Heck, I even liked Teddy at times! I want to go on and on about this one but I just feel like sooooo much happened!!! I don’t even want to spoil any of the fights or any of the redeeming qualities. If you haven’t read this series, you should.
I loved Gemma and all her boys! I loved her best friend. I loved the plot!
Overall: I did like the first one a bit better but this was still good. I think I liked the first one more because we get all the realizations like, who Gemma really is, etc. She had more to hide in that one. I still liked all the drama in this though!
I also loved seeing all the sides of the guys. We get more depth to each of them this time! I enjoyed this one a lot!
Cover: Love it! These covers are really cute! Love the ice cream cone!
