Summary: Get hooked on a girl named Fred...

HE said: Fred Oday is a girl? Why is a girl taking my best friends spot on the boy's varsity golf team?

SHE said: Can I seriously do this? Can I join the boys' team? Everyone will hate me - especially Ryan Berenger.

HE said: Coach expects me to partner with Fred on the green? That is crazy bad. Fred's got to go - especially now that I can't get her out of my head. So not happening.

SHE said: Ryan can be nice, when he's not being a jerk. Like the time he carried my golf bag. But the girl from the rez and the spoiled rich boy from the suburbs? So not happening.

But there's no denying that things are happening as the girl with the killer swing takes on the boy with the killer smile...

My Thoughts: Whoa, I was so anxious to read this after a few friends told me how good it was. However, I really wanted to read it in 2013 for the debut challenge, but I just couldn't wait. I finally let myself read it at the end of November. I just couldn't wait!

We are introduced to Fred and Ryan who are complete opposites or so it seems. Fred is really good at golf, but she’s also an Indian. Ryan is a popular guy who hangs with the popular crowd. He is also really into golf.

Fred gets thrown onto the boys team since the school doesn't have a girls team, and the coach thinks she’s real good, but she takes the place of Ryan’s best friend. So what does that mean? His best friend is off the team. Eek!

This creates a lot of problems for the team, and how Ryan handles it isn't perfect. But neither was he. He had a lot of growing up to do, which I think he did pretty well and fast considering.

I won’t lie, I can see why a few people may not like this one. At first, the golf lingo had me second guessing the novel, but I’m glad I stuck with it. I loved it! I got used to the characters lives revolving around golf. And, the way Fred was picked on, I really hated that.

But the chemistry between Ryan and Fred was there. I liked it alot. I got it. I could see how much they cared about one another and how they wanted something to work. Neither one of them was just not sure what it was going to be or how their relationship would go down, but in my mind, I think it turned out ok.

I also liked the side characters like Mr. Trueblood and Fred’s family and friends. I also loved Ryan’s sister Riley, and I hear the next novel will be about her! YES!

I wasn’t so sure about Hooked at first, but I ended up loving the plot, the characters, and the way the whole story went. This is a wonderful debut and I can’t wait to read more!

Overall: Really loved it! I finished it in a day!  Please add this to your debut list! You won’t regret it! Oh Ryan, how I really like you!  I definitely recommend this one.

Cover: Come on, wouldn't you pick this up in a bookstore for the cover alone? I would! Its so freaking cute! Love!

I actually don't really like the cover-I feel like it's kind of generic and I wish there was some nod to the golf aspects. But I did enjoy the story-fast absorbing read.
