The Marked by Inara Scott
Release Date: April 3, 2012
Publisher: Hyperion Book CH
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 320
Summary: All of her life, Dancia Lewis has wanted to use her powers for good. And now that she’s learned the truth about Delcroix Academy—and herself—she may just get the chance. But being part of Delcroix’s top secret Program isn’t anything like Dancia expected. She has to ask herself: what happens to the Talented kids who refuse to pledge their loyalty to the Program? And why did her friend Jack run away rather than join? Dancia’s adorable boyfriend Cam insists they need the help of every Talented student to defend Delcroix from dangerous enemies outside their gates. But Dancia has to wonder: what if Delcroix’s most frightening enemies come from within?
My Thoughts: I thought this was another pretty good book in this series. I enjoyed it just as much as the first one, but boy did it seem like forever until it had a release date.
We are back at Delcroix Academy where Dancia attends school. Remember, this isn't just an ordinary school. This school educates students with special talents.
We are back with her girl friends, and her boyfriend Cam. Remember Cam from book 1? He was her watcher. Jack is also back throughout the book and he's not even really partially a good guy anymore. A lot of changes has happened and his personality has changed quite a bit.
In The Watchers, Dancia is forced to use her abilities more and learn how to harness them. She is taught how to expand them and how to protect herself. Dancia is a very strong level 3 talent that focuses on the forces of gravity. She can raise people up in the air, just one of her many talents.
The Irin are also a big part of this story. They are out to destroy the world and take down Delcroix Academy.
Throughout the novel, Dancia is falling in love with Cam more everyday but she still misses the old Jack and thinks about him quite often.
I can't wait to see where the story goes next. This book was very fast paced with loads of action.
Overall; Really enjoyed it! Dancia is funny yet serious, she's easy to root for! She is a very realistic character. I really enjoyed The Marked and can't wait until the next book!
Cover: Like but but think I like the first cover more. Just isn’t as colorful maybe.
