Summary: Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.

Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.

Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.

My Thoughts: I have heard good and bad things about Slide. But I really enjoyed it a lot.

We are introduced to Vee who lives with her father and little sister. Her mom died when she was young from cancer and it’s been just the three of them sense.

Vee used to hang out with the popular girls but now she's just a loner. She keeps to herself and hangs out with her best friend Rollins. Vee's sister Mattie is more into the popular crowd now.

As Mattie's friends start to die, first Sophie and than Amber, Vee starts to wonder what is going on, especially after she has seen mysterious clues to what has happened.

The most interesting part is how Vee has seen them. She can slide. When she touches something somebody valued, a possession of theirs, she can slide into their minds and experience whatever they are doing or have done. Freaky right?

With a new guy named Zane in town taking an interest in Vee, she starts to wonder if his appearance is connected to the murders.

Honestly, Slide has a very promising premise. I would love to have the ability to slip into someones mind and see what they see. Can you imagine doing that? I thought Slide was a good book. Yes, its somewhat short but its a fun mysterious book.

Overall: All in all, I really liked Slide. I can see how it might not be every one’s cup of tea though. Personally, I enjoyed it a lot and thought it was a wonderful debut.

Cover: Like it! Like how we can just see her shadow basically, and not her whole face or body.  Also love the purple background.

What I'd Give It:
