Stargazer (Evernight #2) by Claudia Gray
Release Date: March 24, 2009
Publisher: HarperTeen
Age Group: Young Adult
Pages: 336
Summary: The vampire in me was closer to the surface...
Evernight Academy: an exclusive boarding school for the most beautiful, dangerous students of all—vampires. Bianca, born to two vampires, has always been told her destiny is to become one of them.
But Bianca fell in love with Lucas—a vampire hunter sworn to destroy her kind. They were torn apart when his true identity was revealed, forcing him to flee the school.
Although they may be separated, Bianca and Lucas will not give each other up. She will risk anything for the chance to see him again, even if it means coming face-to-face with the vampire hunters of Black Cross—or deceiving the powerful vampires of Evernight. Bianca's secrets will force her to live a life of lies.
Yet Bianca isn't the only one keeping secrets. When Evernight is attacked by an evil force that seems to target her, she discovers the truth she thought she knew is only the beginning....
My Thoughts: We are back with Bianca who is struggling with the idea that she will soon become a full fledged vampire, one who needs to kill, who needs to feed on humans. Bianca is still attending Evernight with all the other vampires and humans out there.
Lucas is on the run hunting with Black Cross and trying to cope with the idea that the girl he loves is a vampire. Lucas is very protective of Bianca and maybe that is what draws me to him a bit. I'm still not in love with him, I don't think I will ever be. I can't really connect with him as I do with some of the other characters. Such as Balthazar. Balthazar is still my number one guy in this series. Maybe its because he's more mature and has lived longer.
In Stargazer, Lucas and Bianca are trying to find ways to see each other. She sneaks off campus to see him but it's starting to get complicated, until she and Balthazar strike up a bargain. He will take her off campus, as long as she tells nobody she's seen his sister. In the process, they have to act like they are dating.
Sounds tough right, especially when its quite clear that Balthaazar has feelings for Bianca, but she's still swooning over Lucas.
Don't worry this isn't the whole plot. There are so many small things going on in this book, it keeps you entertained. Plus all the side characters including Vic are back.
Stargazer was much better than Evernight. I found that I enjoyed the plot a lot more, and I'm glad that Balthazar was a main character and we saw a lot of him. The ending was the best part, cliffhanger time.
I'm excited, more excited than last time, to start the next book.
Overall: I loved it a lot. It was so much more enjoyable than Evernight. I think Evernight was just the introduction so it felt like not much really happened but Stargazer had a lot more action and things going on. I hope that the next one is more like this one than the first one. We shall see!!!
Cover: Another real pretty cover. I like the purple more than the red this time.
