Jekel Loves Hyde

By Beth Fantaskey

Summary:
Jill Jekel has always obeyed her parents’ rules – especially the one about never opening the mysterious, old box in her father’s office. But when her dad is murdered, and her college savings disappear, she's tempted to peek inside, as the contents might be key to a lucrative chemistry scholarship.
To better her odds, Jill enlists the help of gorgeous, brooding Tristen Hyde, who has his own dark secrets locked away. As the team of Jekel and Hyde, they recreate experiments based on the classic novel, hoping not only to win a prize, but to save Tristen’s sanity. Maybe his life. But Jill’s accidental taste of a formula unleashes her darkest nature and compels her to risk everything – even Tristen’s love – just for the thrill of being… bad.

My Thoughts: We are introduced to Jill Jekel and Tristen Hyde. They have been classmates for a little while now and don't really know each other too well. But, they decide to work on a project together to gain a scholarship. Tristen than begins to realize that he needs to come up with a cure to tame the beast inside him and he wants Jill to help him recreate the formula. Things heat up between Jill and Tristen and chaos comes! This is somewhat of a retailing of the original Jekel And Hyde with parts changed. And of course the romantic aspects of Jill and Tristen. I really wanted to love this one. I had been anxiously awaiting for it for a while. I picked it up and wanted to love it. I did like it, but I just felt it didn't warm up to me. It took me a few days to read it, and I kept putting it down because I just couldn't get interested it but I did finish it. Usually I will even find myself falling for the less than great guy but I just didn't feel a strong connection with Tristen, and I also didn't really like Jill. I did really like the two point of view rotation between Tristen and Beth. I enjoy reading what each character is thinking. I think that Beth is one of the most awesome writers ever but I just had a hard time getting into this one. Will I read something else Beth writes? Yes, no doubt in my mind. Will others love this book? I'm sure.

Overall:
I just liked it.
It was an ok book.

Cover:
The cover is stunning, isn't it? I love the purple and green together. Really gorgeous cover.

What I'd Give It:

This one's on my TBR, and I'm hoping I'll like it better than you did, but at least it's not one cupcake right? :D
